Learning through Play
3 Days a week - Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
We believe that children are naturally curious and learn best through exploration and play.
In the Wonder Studio, children have the freedom to explore the natural world around them, fostering a deep connection with the environment and a sense of wonder.
Our approach is inspired by the Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, which emphasizes independence, self-directed learning, and respect for the child. In the Wonder Studio, children are encouraged to follow their interests and learn at their own pace, developing important skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking.
Grow a unique, curious and independent spirit
We believe young children are capable of learning necessary skills like reading and mathematical reasoning at their own pace and in their own way.
We create an environment in which children are free to explore and play, allowing their own curiosity to be the spark that ignites learning. Along the way, they also develop vital character traits and social skills like kindness, empathy, honesty, critical thinking, the satisfaction of performing hard work, responsibility, and joy in learning.
Inspired by Montessori principles and Socratic teaching methods, our Cornerstone Studio is a holistic environment that aims to stimulate children’s minds, spirits, and bodies as they figure out the world around them and their place in it.
Develop a deep love of learning and kindness in relationships with others
The Elementary Studio builds a foundation of learning and discovery through personalized Core Skills, exploratory Quest projects, and play.
Core Skills – reading, writing, math and computer science – are self-paced and mastery-based using adaptive technology.
Students explore the arts, sciences, history and natural world through hands-on projects each afternoon.
Simulations require teamwork, critical thinking and creativity. Meanwhile, plenty of free play binds the community together and builds communication, problem solving and collaboration.
Young people in the Middle School Studio begin to embark into the real world, with the thrilling opportunities and responsibility that come with it.
Learners apply real-world skills in hands-on projects including apprenticeships each year with heroes in the community.
As young people grow into adolescence, their impact multiplies. Now, projects have real clients, skills are developed with rigor, and discussions embrace a new maturity.
Adventure Studio offers a higher level of freedom, as well as a safe place to test your limits, failing early, cheaply and often.
We plan to launch our High School Studio – Launchpad – as soon as founding students from the lower studios mature to build this fast-paced work environment.
Launchpadders get ready for real-world success by gaining valuable skills, mastering them through apprenticeships, and launching real startups, businesses and projects.
Whether that’s in business, science, humanities, or the arts, apprenticeships and projects increase in length and complexity, according to the Launchpadders experience and learning journeys at Acton.
By the time a young person leaves Launchpad they have a portfolio of real-world work to prove what they can do.
